Stray Kids’ newest mini album “ATE” has achieved the prestigious “double-million seller” status. Released on July 19, the album quickly sold over 2,025,803 copies within a mere five days, according to Hanteo Chart’s announcement on July 24. This significant milestone marks “ATE” as the fourth consecutive album by Stray Kids to exceed 2 million sales in its initial week, following “MAXIDENT,” “★★★★★ (5-STAR),” and “ROCK-STAR.”
The title track, “Chk Chk Boom,” has mesmerized fans with its distinct combination of Latin-inspired hip-hop beats and dynamic performances. Han from Stray Kids shared the group’s vision for the album: “Our goal was to project a controlled and subtle energy while ensuring it remained engaging. We also diversified the genres of the B-side tracks to enrich the album.” Changbin added, “I focused on the pronunciation to infuse a Latin essence, even in the Korean rap sections.”
The music video for “Chk Chk Boom” attracted widespread attention by featuring Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The connection between Stray Kids and Reynolds dates back to their Deadpool-themed performance on Mnet’s K-pop competition show, “Kingdom: Legendary War,” in 2021. The members described Reynolds’ involvement in the music video as an almost unreal experience.

In addition, Stray Kids excited fans by announcing their contract renewal with JYP Entertainment. Bang Chan expressed his joy, saying, “Sharing the news of our unanimous contract renewal with our fans was thrilling. We’ve been crafting our unique story since before our debut, and there’s so much more we want to share.”
Looking forward, Stray Kids will kick off their third world tour, “dominATE,” in August. The tour will include stops in Singapore, Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, North America, South America, and Europe. The group is also set to perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago in August.
Editorially, Stray Kids’ triumph with “ATE” underscores their artistic evolution and the loyalty of their fanbase. Their adeptness at exploring new musical territories while retaining their distinctive style has resonated globally. Their thoughtful collaborations and continuous interaction with international audiences bolster their standing in the music industry. Stray Kids’ narrative is one of growth, innovation, and cohesion, pointing to even greater accomplishments in the future.
